The national carrier of it's home country, Air France is actually one of the biggest airlines in the world, a fact that is often overlooked. The airline has joined forces with KLM to become the biggest global operator, though it was pretty large before they made this move, emphasising just how big they now are.
For passengers from the UK Air France is an operator that is well liked thanks to it's provision of flights from the regional airports, like some other carriers they use their hub city of Paris to bring travellers together and then put them onto the main long haul part of the journey. They are able to carry more passengers this way at a more cost-effective rate, which further fuels their position.
In order to operate this way the airline needs a substantial fleet of aircraft, and this they have with around four hundred aircraft in operation currently, of varying sizes and specifications to cater for the many different requirements of the airline's routes. There is a strong bias towards the many European cities in their routes, of which there are some two hundred or so in total, though the major long haul cities also play a big part in the airline's operations.
